11/24/2016 Just a few days ago from my Kayak in the Barnegat Bay I was given a wildlife gift.
As I sat in the water photographing a small flock of Buffleheads consisting of females and juveniles I wondered where the Male was? Into the sod banks I saw him he sat quietly and watched.. The small flock made their way in a beeline to him and they "talked" The Dominate female would not leave his side. Then one by one they all flew off including her and there he sat alone in the water. He paddled about the salt pond and I Knew it was time for me to leave. I backed my kayak away and out of the pond .
Returning back that night to the pond to photograph the sunset.. I saw him RIGHT where I first found him sitting upright wedged into the sod banks he had died. What better way to go at Peace with your self and the world...
